Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are crucial to the story of the Battleship TEXAS. They represent Battleship TEXAS, her crew, the ship’s legacy, the Battleship Texas Foundation, and the State of Texas. The ship relies on the dedication of individuals each year to help with essential preservation work, conduct tours and special experiences, and our outreach within the communities.
Restoration volunteer
Use your skills to help preserve the ship through restoration, maintenance, and housekeeping.
Educational Outreach
Participation in the outreach program brings Battleship TEXAS into the community through educational displays, activities, and presentations.
Volunteer Docent
Educating all of the visitors about the ship’s history, its crew, and its story through tours and special experiences.
FAQs
What are the volunteer requirements?
- Applicants must be at least 16 years of age. An adult must accompany minors throughout the volunteer service.
- Must pass a required criminal background check.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and navigate the ship’s various levels.
- Must be able to use email and or the Volgistics(VicNet) app.
What are the benefits of being a volunteer?
- Volunteers are eligible for volunteer-only events.
- Early access to new exhibits and displays.
- Automatic discount in the ship’s store.
- Battleship TEXAS lifetime membership after 500 lifetime hours.
